Staying Healthy in College

Binge Drinking

At Texas Tech, and many other universities, it is required to partake in alcoholedu. This is to help students understand the dangers of drinking, specifically binge drinking. The problem is… students partake in alcoholedu as incoming freshman and by the time they are seniors, they are binge drinking at the local bar.

For those that don’t know, binge drinking is consuming excessive amounts of alcohol (five or more drinks) in a short amount of time.

Liquor stores portray drinking in a glamorous light, but is it glamorous to pass out face down in your own vomit?

Binge drinking is not only expensive, but it is also damaging. It is associated with health problems such as: unintentional injuries, alcohol poisoning, sexually transmitted diseases, and more.
