Being healthy in college is hard. Trying to exercise and eating right is hard, but something a lot of people neglect is there mental state.
A study done last year by the American Psychological Association Association found that anxiety is the worst mental illness students face with 41.6%, and it is followed by depression at 36.4%.
This article states the number of students that are being hospitalized has increased from 2,069 in 2006 to 3,700 in 2010.
Whether it is because more students are going to college therefore increasing those numbers, or college is becoming more stressful for students, everyone needs to be more aware of the possible mental illness among their peers to better help them. Most colleges have a health center that can provide services for those in need. Ask for help if you need it.
